Canadian sales of commercial vans jumped 9% in February 2017, a year-over-year increase worth 250 additional sales. 

No thanks to small commercial vans, sales of which plunged 57% in February and are down by roughly half through the first one-sixth of 2017. 

Only 14% of the commercial/cargo vans sold in Canada in February 2017 were small commercial vans – City Express, Transit Connect, Metris, NV200, ProMaster City – after the same vans earned 36% of the segment's sales one year ago.

Sharp declines reported by the Ram ProMaster City, Chevrolet City Express and top-selling Ford Transit Connect, along with a modest downturn from the Nissan NV200, brought the sub-segment very low in the second month of 2017. Small commercial van sales have now declined, year-over-year, in five consecutive months.

Led by the surging Ford Transit, the quickly rising Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and gains at General Motors and Ram, full-size commercial van sales jumped 47% in February 2017.  Year-to-date, full-size commercial van sales have grown by 1179 units relative to the same period one year ago.
