Chevrolet Bolt jumps to Second Place

Canada's plug-in market continues on fire, 1.221 new registrations were made in April, up 60% YoY, keeping the EV Share at a record 0.7%. 

With the Volt comfortably seated on the Best Seller seat, Chevrolet is now focused in delivering its new baby, the Bolt, in selected provinces. With 187 deliveries last month, Chevy's BEV model was for the second month in a row the Second Best Selling model (187 units), ahead of the evergreen Nissan Leaf (142 units).

With the (slow) ramp up of the Bolt deliveries, the model reached Second Place in the YTD chart, with 520 units, ahead of the Tesla Model S (482 units), now displaced to Third place. 

Looking at the remaining models, the big news were the good results of the Chrysler Pacifica PHEV, with 53 deliveries in its full sales month, jumping to #11 and now looking for a Top 10 seat. The Audi A3 e-Tron and BMW 330e have beaten their previous personal bests, with 52 and 11 units respectively, possibly due to added stock availability.

In the manufacturers ranking, Chevrolet has its leadership secured for a long time, with 41% share, followed by Tesla (21%) and Nissan (11%). 

Looking into May preliminar results, the Volt continues unharmed by the Bolt arrival, having registered its best result in 8 months, with 404 units, while the Bolt had a somewhat underwelming performance, with 177 units. Is Chevrolet not ramping up its  production fast enough?

The other significant model with available numbers is the Nissan Leaf, with 122 units, up one unit regarding May 2016.
