Record Month

The EV market in Spain is boiling hot, with plug-ins up an impressive 215% in September, to a record 828 units, pulling the yearly tally to 4.585 units, up 83% YoY, with the PEV Share now at a record 0.6%. 

The needle is moving, will it reaching the 1% threshold this year?

A good thing coming out of this growth rate is that unlike other markets, most of the growth comes from BEVs, with this technology almost tripling registrations regarding September '16 and representing 62% of all plug-in sales. And all in a market with no plug-in incentives!

But it's not only the fact that sales are going through the roof that make this market interesting, the YTD ranking is also showing a close race for the leadership, with four models separated by less than 100 units and the Zoe and i3 constantly changing positions, last month it was the BMW time to sit at the highest podium seat, thanks to 124 deliveries (New pb and Best Seller in September).

With Renault struggling to meet demand, something tells me October will bring a record performance for the Zoe...Moving on, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV profited from the recent uptick in sales and reached Third Place, displacing the Nissan Leaf to Fourth, that despite the current generation already having a one way ticket to Valhalla, still registered 61 units, double of what it did a year ago...The wonders of hard discounts, eh?

It's not only at the top that things are interesting, the WV e-Golf is having dividends from the increased range, jumping to #14, thanks to a record 44 deliveries (Or double of the registrations during the whole year of 2016), while the Smart Fortwo ED jumped to Fifth Place, with 108 units, its best result in 22 months, while the other, slightly larger Smart model, the Forfour ED, also jumped to #19, thanks to 42 sales. 

On the manufacturers ranking, the leader BMW (19%) holds steady, while the Second Placed is being hardly fought by Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi, all with 10% share.
