Opel Ampera-e shines in Tesla land
The Swiss PEV market was up 6% in December, registering 786 units last month, with the final count of the year ending at 8.019 units, up 48% regarding 2016.
Consequently, the 2017 PEV Share broke new records, climbing to a record 2.6%, almost a full 1% (0.9%) above the 2016 result of 1.7%.

Tesla did its usual peak month stunt, with both the brand nameplates hitting Q4 highs, but while the Model S won both the December and 2017 Best Seller titles, the Model X couldn't recover the 2017 runner-up place from the wheels of the BMW i3, while in December, the Opel Ampera-e won its second consecutive Silver medal, by registering 125 units, relegating the Tesla Model X to Third Place.
The German-American-Korean hatchback ended the year in Fifth Place, its best standing in Europe which, provided GM doesn't get greedy and provides PSA with enough units, could make the Opel model a major player for 2018.
In the manufacturers ranking, after an exceptional BMW performance in November, which allowed it to reach the top spot, Tesla (25%, up 1%) recovered the pole position just in time to win the 2017 trophy (It's Fourth), dropping BMW (24%, down 2%) to Second Place, while Renault (9%) resisted the Volkswagen (9%, up 1%) advance, and won the Bronze medal.
Regarding the BEV/PHEV breakdown, plug-in hybrids recovered more ground to pure electrics, with PHEVs having now 42% share, above the 39% share of 2016, and 36% in 2015.
