South Korea Q1 2018
IONIQ and the rest
The South Korean market is on the rise, having reached the 1% PEV share threshold this year, mostly thanks to the Hyundai Ioniq Electric (+131% YoY), and with the Hyundai Kona BEV arriving in a couple of months, expect the share to grow even further, possibly ending at 2% this year, which would be a tremendous feat, given that in 2015, the Plug-in share was only 0.2%...
If this were to happen, would it be much to ask some 20% share by 2021?
The Second Place is far behind the leader, with the Twizy scoring a surprising 450 units, stealing the Silver medal from the hands of the Kia Soul EV, while the Chevrolet Bolt stayed below the podium, no doubt due to GM not providing enough units.
Looking into FCEV's, the Hyundai Nexo landed in March, with 11 units, it will be interesting to follow how this new Fuel Cell model will be accepted by the market, as it is the most appealing FCEV so far.
