Nissan Leaf wins #1 in hot market

The rise and rise of the Ukranian PEV market continues, with a record 1.035 new passenger car registrations, more than doubling sales, translated in a final PEV Share of 1.3%, with 85% of that share belonging to BEVs.

A special mention to second hand EV imports, as they were four times higher (4.425 units) than new cars, counting them together, the PEV share jumps to over 5% share. The most popular car in this (large) chunk of the market is the Nissan Leaf, representing over 50% of these imports.

Speaking of new registrations, the restyled Nissan Leaf is also an undeniable success in Ukraine, having been the Best Selling model in 2018, with the Japanese hatchback winning the trophy with a comfortable distance over the #2 BMW i3.

The last place of the podium went for the Tesla Model X, with a surprising 110 units, and despite the Californian company not being officially represented in this market, it won the manufacturers title(!), thanks also to the #5 Tesla Model S, that collected 92 units, with Tesla (20% share & 202 units) just edging out Nissan (19%; 196 units).

Maybe Tesla could think about having oficial representation in Ukraine? Just a thought...

A special mention to Chevrolet, that is present in this market and had 11% share, thanks to 61 Volts and 53 Bolts, making us wonder how successful would the Volt II be, if it had been sold in other European markets.

Also worthy of mention, the Jaguar i-Pace was the Best Selling plugin in December, with 23 deliveries, an interesting number, considering the Dutch market was absorbing every i-Pace it could grab, so it could mean that Ukraine could be a major market for the British SUV.
