The Porsche Carrera GT is heralded as being one of the last true analogue supercars and command high prices in the used car market. This past weekend, one example formerly owned by 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button sold for $975,000.
The 5,316-mile (8,556 km) 2004 Carrera GT sold on auction website Collecting Cars, and it includes extensive service documentation as well as authentication of Button’s ownership. The car initially called Monaco home, but since then it has spent time in the UK, and resided in the Netherlands until its sale on Sunday. Its original tires and radiators were also included with the sale.

Finished in an understated Seal Grey, this car is part of the less than 10% of Carrera GTs wearing the color, making it exceedingly desirable beyond its driving experience and celebrity ownership. The original 5-spoke wheels frame a set of yellow carbon ceramic brakes that help to offset the grey paint. The car comes with the original Porsche car cover, as well as the original protective covers for the roof.
The interior is upholstered in Terracotta leather and includes a full luggage set in the same color. It pairs nicely with the car’s iconic Beechwood shift knob, which was a nod to the 917 racecar from the 70’s. It also comes with the original tools, as well as a boxed pewter sculpture of the engine that contains a plaque engraved with Jenson’s name.

Quite possibly this car’s best feature is its howling naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V10. Sounding better than anything else save for maybe a Lexus LFA, it sends 603 hp (612 PS / 450 kW) and 435 lb-ft (590 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. That allows the Carrera GT to complete the sprint to 60 mph (97 km/h) in just 3.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).
